The end of the year finds THISTLE commemorating 15 years of playing music together. It’s been a great ride from their humble, wide-eyed beginnings to their first shows in and around Kentucky and Ohio, to the founding of Tiberius Records and their work with many of the region’s talented musicians and artists to the release of their most recent and most cohesive effort to date, "The Small Hours."
Time heals as many wounds as it creates. THISTLE’s been lucky enough to do the same. If longevity counts for anything, it’s the role of witness. Tortoise over lemming any day. For all of the Feeders, fat Dogs, Sodas, Silo the Huskies, Miranda Sounds, Elks, Sinkers, Death in Gracelands and Gaunts that have gone, others have come to take their place. Relative newcomers Arms Exploding, Knife the Symphony, Caterpillar Tracks, Strongest Proof, Cari Clara, Banderas, Straw Boss, Turnbull Acs, Lost Hands Found Fingers and Alone at 3am (to name a few) have made continuing to play shows worthwhile.
THISTLE will send the year off right this Tuesday, December 30th 2008 at the Southgate House in Newport, KY.
The show starts at 9:30pm and features sets by: THISTLE, Hekura, Cari Clara, Turnbull ACs, Strongest Proof, Alone at 3am and Knife the Symphony.
